This month, I have been getting involved in the daily challenge that brings all students from all OCA courses together. We have a one word prompt each day to inspire a creation. As an Illustration student, I have focused on drawings. Below are the prompts and some of my favourites so far (‘dark’, ‘toast’, ‘spoon’, and ‘hair’).

One of the most wonderful results of this challenge is the connections I have made with fellow OCA students. It is exciting to see what other people will come up with and how we all interpret the prompt differently in our own creative field. It has also been great to have a daily drawing prompt to ensure I am working in my sketchbook everyday.
I have been posting my drawings on my Instagram account @artworkjade and using the hashtag #OCAtober.

Update – 2nd November 2020
Now that the challenge has ended, I have compiled my favourite submissions. I think it worked well when I created an image which addressed multiple meanings of the word prompt, such as a slice of toast toasting with a glass of champagne. My favourites below are ‘toast’, ‘moon’, ‘match’, ‘rotten’, and ‘spoon’.
